In 2011, the Galex Research Group was awarded the PGZ Gold Award for its innovation “Formulation of cosmetic skin care products containing thermo-mineral water and a natural antioxidant”.
Thermalium Cosmetic collection consists of:

The advantage of cosmetic products containing 59-80% thermal mineral water from Moravske Toplice lies in the thermal mineral water – a completely natural ingredient, processed in accordance with the principles of good practice applicable to cosmetic products, which retains all its characteristics and beneficial effects on the skin during the production and use of the product.
Thermal mineral water from Moravske Toplice contains numerous microelements that are natural moisturizing factors. The care effect of the products is complemented by nourishing and nourishing oils and other ingredients in individual products, such as vitamin E and rosemary extracts with antioxidant properties. All cosmetic products from the Thermalium collection with thermal mineral water from Moravske Toplice have a pH value in the range of 5.0 to 5.9, thereby helping to maintain the physiological pH of the skin, which has a protective role. Thermal and mineral waters are part of natural wealth. Each natural mineral water has properties that arise from the specific characteristics of mineral substances, trace elements or other components and can have certain physiological effects. On its way through the earth’s interior, water intensively dissolves rocks due to its physical and chemical properties under the influence of pressure, temperature and gases.
This creates aqueous solutions that differ in the amount and variety of dissolved minerals. The variety of dissolved minerals in natural mineral waters depends on the underground environment through which the water flows, the depth of the waterways, and the time the water remains underground.
People have long recognized their healing value. The thermal mineral water from Moravske Toplice comes from depths of 960 to 1467 meters. Its temperature at the source is 72 °C. It is a hydrogen carbonate hyperthermal water with free and bound carbon dioxide. In addition to carbon dioxide, it contains a large number of dissolved anions (fluoride, chloride, bromide, iodide, sulfate, hydrogen phosphate, hydrogen carbonate) and cations (lithium, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese).
Due to its characteristics, the thermomineral water from Moravske Toplice has been declared a natural medicinal product since 1964. Its therapeutic indications are: inflammatory rheumatic diseases, degenerative extra-articular rheumatism, conditions after injuries and surgeries on the locomotor system with functional impairment, and skin diseases.
Thermomineral water has not only therapeutic, but also other positive effects on the human body:
invigorates and refreshes the body,
improves and accelerates skin blood circulation,
gives a feeling of comfort and relaxation,
stimulates regeneration and improves the skin’s defense mechanisms.
Thermal mineral water has been shown to have:
- It reduces the sensitivity of cells involved in immunological mechanisms in the skin: the threshold for reactivity becomes higher.
- It improves intercellular exchange of substances by strengthening cell membranes: the balance in the skin is restored.
- It increases the effectiveness of key cells of our immune defence system: the skin protects itself better.
As early as 1984, a study was conducted, which demonstrated that patients who were treated with 30-minute balneotherapy daily experienced an improvement in psoriasis symptoms and a faster reduction and disappearance of redness. The pharmaceutical company Galex from Murska Sobota has developed a special cosmetic collection Thermalium for facial, hand and body skin care. The development took place in collaboration with the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Ljubljana.
Galex experts managed to stabilize thermal mineral water and incorporate it with all its positive effects into cosmetic products. This was a very challenging project, as thermal mineral water is a living material that comes from nature, originates from the earth, and it was very difficult to capture it in a high-quality, effective and stable product. Thermalium products are safe and there have been no reports of adverse effects in the years since they have been on the market. They are added with a minimal concentration of fragrance and have not been tested on animals.
The first cosmetic line based on thermo-mineral water, which is the fruit of Slovenian know-how and uses Slovenia’s natural wealth.
It contains 59-80% thermal mineral water, which is collected directly from the spring.
It supplies the skin with natural moisturizing factors.
Thermalium cosmetic products are adjusted to the natural pH of the skin. The thermomineral water from Moravske Toplice, which is their main ingredient, ensures that the preparations have a gentle and restorative effect, making them an excellent aid for skin with an unbalanced balance. The thermomineral water from Moravske Toplice also contains a lot of sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium, the latter being considered a true beauty element, the rejuvenating power of which was already known to the Chinese.
Due to their natural composition and high content of thermal mineral water, the products are suitable for all skin types.
