The skin on our face is one of the most sensitive parts of our body, exposed to various factors such as weather changes, pollution, UV radiation and inadequate skin care on a daily basis. In order to maintain a healthy and youthful appearance, it is important to know your skin type and take proper care of it.
1. Normal skin
Normal skin is balanced, which means it is neither too dry nor too oily. Pores are small, skin is soft to the touch and has a healthy glow. Although such skin is not usually a problem, it is important to care for it regularly and protect it from external influences.
Normal skin is easy to care for as it is not prone to excessive sebum secretion or dryness. Cleanse the skin with a gentle cleanser that removes dirt without drying it out. Regular moisturising with light moisturising creams or serums keeps the skin soft and supple. Use a daily sunscreen with SPF to protect against UV radiation.

2. Oily skin
Oily skin has increased sebum production, which makes it shiny, especially on the forehead, nose and chin (T-zone). Pores are wider, which increases the chance of pimples and blackheads. Oily skin is common in youth, but can also occur in adults.
For oily skin, products that regulate sebum but don’t dry out the skin are key. Gel cleansers and toners are recommended to cleanse and tighten pores. Light, non-greasy creams or serums provide hydration without increasing oiliness. Regular use of exfoliants helps to remove dead skin cells and prevent blackheads.
3. Dry skin
Dry skin often appears pale and lack lustre, with symptoms of tightness and flaking. It can cause itching, redness and cracking if not properly cared for.
Dry skin needs extra hydration and protection against moisture loss. Creamy, nourishing cleansers, rich moisturising creams or oils, and creams containing ceramides and hyaluronic acid are recommended to maintain moisture.

4. Mixed skin
Combination skin is a combination of oily and dry skin, where the T-zone is oily and the cheeks are dry. The skin needs to be cared for in different ways depending on the needs of the different parts of the face.
For combination skin, gentle products are used that do not dry out dry areas, but at the same time balance oily areas. Cleansers and toners for combination skin are recommended.
Apply richer moisturisers to dry areas and light moisturising serums or gels to oily areas.
5. Sensitive skin
Sensitive skin reacts to changes in temperature, cosmetics and chemicals. Symptoms include redness, burning, rashes and irritation. It needs gentle care with mild and hypoallergenic products free of perfumes and alcohol.
For sensitive skin, soothing, calming products are recommended. Cleansing products should be gentle, hypoallergenic and free of irritating ingredients.
The moisturiser must be carefully chosen so as not to cause irritation. It is also important to use a cream with SPF, as sensitive skin often reacts to the sun’s rays.

In addition to the right care for your skin type, there are some general tips to follow to keep your facial skin healthy:
- Healthy lifestyle: a balanced diet, adequate hydration, enough sleep and regular exercise have a positive effect on skin health.
- Sun protection: UV radiation causes damage to the skin, so daily use of a sun protection factor (SPF) cream is essential, even on cloudy days.
- Avoid stress: Stress can have a negative effect on the skin, as it can increase the production of hormones that contribute to acne and other skin problems.
- Regular care: Regular facial cleansing (two to three times a day), use of exfoliants and moisturisers help to keep the skin clean and hydrated.
